cover pencils to #8

Just a quick post... here is the completed pencils to the cover to #8. I'll post the finished version later, the one that Mike really hooks up.

Zayne... the scoundrel

Well, he's a bit too nice to be a scoundrel, I suppose. And I always give him that little crooked smile to show that he's still a bit unsure of himself.

Here's his new look as of issue #6. I have made some changes to this and will make some more as we go along but this is the initial design. The basic design elements will stay but some little gadgets here and there will change.

His pants, kneepads, and boots are the same as before. I decided to keep up the theme of the "wrap" around his neck consistent with his Padawan look-- I just like it and I think it keeps his look young.

BTW, the colors (as usual) are done by Mike Atiyeh-- he's quite good isn't he?

KOTOR # 8 Cover-- part 2

Here's the next step in the penciling process. I've begun roughing in the basic anatomy and starting fleshing out some of the details like pouches and weapons. This stage of the drawing is done very quickly and I'm acting mostly on instinct here. That way the drawing stay somewhat spontaneous and I get that energetic line drawing I'm looking for.

BTW, for those who have read #6, I'm sure you figure out who "sketch-man" really is, right?

Not sure why the cover to KOTOR # 8 isn't up at the Dark Horse site yet. But here is the very rough initial sketch for it. I'll put up the rough pencils for it in a couple of days.
