rough sketch to cover for #8

Not sure why the cover to KOTOR # 8 isn't up at the Dark Horse site yet. But here is the very rough initial sketch for it. I'll put up the rough pencils for it in a couple of days.

Brian, I know that you love being the artist on kotor, but do you think you will ever do comics for Marvel or DC?

Mando(s) in hand-to-hand combat? The one on the right pretty clearly is a Mandalorian...not so sure about the figure on the left, although he's got a lot of kit on his belt. Interesting! I love watching concepts develop through to finished art. Thanks for posting the preview!

ghoward--

Maybe someday, I think most guys want to try their hand at Batman or Spider-Man or one of those big icons at some point in their careers. But Dark Horse is such a great place to be-- they really go out of their way to take care of the artists. And like you said, I love being on KOTOR!

Carolyn,

Yup, it's a Mando on the right. Can't say who's on the left yet though :)

The figure on the left is... umm... Sketch-Man. Yeah, that's it.

I'd say that these things are hidden because we're playing it close to the vest -- like not letting people know that Zayne survived issue #6 -- but like Brian, I really don't know. I do know the finished cover is great, though...

Oooh. Sketch-Man. Now you've done it. And thus, a whole new genre of fan-fiction is born, fleshing out the life-story of the mysterious and ill-known Sketch-Man character. Message boards blossom to 42 pages of ret-conning to accomodate Sketch-Man. Costumers attempt to get all details correct and construct elaborate masquerade skits around the character's putative backstory. I can see it now...

Err, sorry. Got carried away for a moment. :)

Looking forward to seeing the finished cover, of course.

- Carolyn (regretting now saying she'd not hold you to the frivolous offer of a sketch some time...)
