KotOR cover #13, final
I've already posted the finished pencils for the cover a couple weeks back so no need to show that again. Here's the finished colors for the piece-- another outstanding job by Mike Atiyeh! To be honest, I think I drove Mike a little crazy with all my requests for changes on this piece. In the end I realized he didn't need to change a single thing and that all of it looks outstanding. That just shows how neurotic and obsessive we can be on our work-- waaaaaay more critical than the readers or "critics."

I'ts always nice to see these "Behind the Scenes" stuff, because it helps a lot of young comic book artists, especially me. It also helps me to understand the creation process of a comic book page or in this case a comic cover.
I also wanted to drop by and say I that I just bought some of your Top Cow work (Witchblade, The Darkness, Tomb Raider etc.) at our local comic shop here in Tampere.
Magnificent work you've got there, too.

I love the concept/creation process you have displayed! The artwork is magnificant and that HK rocks! Being neurotic and obsessive is normal when it's your atwork that is going to be seen by millions of people! LOL! Great job!
Hey - Will you by chance be posting anymore of you character studies like you have in the past? I enjoy the thought process you take in your creations :)
Take care!

Nestor-- glad this stuff is helpful, I know what it's like to be working on your technique and trying to learn new ways to create. I still get a kick out of seeing other artist's process myself.
Dayton-- thanks man. the HK was very fun stuff. You know what it's like being obsessive about the work right? I see the flaws as if someone put neon yellow paint around it-- it ends up being the only thing I see. But it's just part of the job, I guess.
I'll try to put up more character studies later on.

Hey Nestor,
Did you mean Tampere, Finland? I work late hours in my studio and always have the TV on-- well, Conan O'Brien is on late here and he always mentions how famous he is in Finland. He jokes that he's a GOD in Finland. Is it true that he's become popular over there? Just curious.

Yes, I did mean Tampere, Finland.
And you're right about Mr. Conan O'Brien. He's kinda famous around here. I watch his late night show every day at 16.15. Very late, huh ? But that's because it airs on SubTV at 23.00 and then in the next day it airs again as a rerun at 16.15.
Well, anyway I'm big fan of Conan.
BTW SubTV is a finnish TV station.

On an unrelated note: Just read issue #9 and wanted to give you a double thumbs-up. :)
I'll wax more eloquent if you post pictures from it, but for now...wow.

Thanks, Carolyn! I may have to hold you to that-- I've just posted a page from #9 ;)
